De "Saffredi" heeft een intense kleur met een opstuivend boeket van zeer rijp fruit, kruiden en een lichte toast. De tannines zijn fijn en geven aan de wijn verfijning, subtiliteit en complexiteit.
Het vlaggenschip van het wijnhuis "Fattoria Le Pupille". Een eerbetoon aan haar vader en mentor Fredi die de wijngaard waar de wijn vandaan komt, samen met Giacomo Tachis, aanplantte in 1980. Een massive houtgerijpte IGT van Maremma-Toscanie van cabernet sauvignon, merlot en alicante die 18 maanden op eikenhouten barriques rijpt, waarvan 75% nieuwe zijn.

"There's a lot to say, and admire, about the 2013 Saffredi. First off all, this is the first growing cycle made under the careful watch of enologist Luca D'Attoma. This makes all the difference. One of his changes is an increased focus on Petit Verdot, which makes up to 15% of the blend in this case. The other grapes used are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. But the increased role of Petit Verdot has awarded this vintage with stunning precision, linearity and balance. It's like a light switch has suddenly been turned on. Petit Verdot on the Tuscan Coast tends to show softer and fuller lines. In this wine, you taste the tonic crunchiness of the grape skins instead. The dark concentration of the wine is pleasurable and rich, and there's a final acidic signature that closes the deal in style. Congratulations" (Monica Larner)

Meer dan dertig jaar geleden kreeg de wijnpassie van Elisabetta Geppetti vorm in Fattoria Le Pupille. Met de hulp van echtgenoot Stefano Rizzi en oenologen Giacomo Tachis en Riccardo Cotarella werd Le Pupille uitgebouwd tot een van de fonkelende sterren aan het Italiaanse wijnfirmament. Net buiten het productiegebied werd een gloednieuwe wijnkelder uit de grond gestampt waar de verschillende wijnen het levenslicht zien.
Het avontuur begon in 1982 met de eerste lancering van de typische wijn van de streek: Morellino di Scansano. Vandaag wordt er nog altijd een basis-Morellino gemaakt die volledig in inox is gevinifieerd, zonder rijping op hout. De wijn is gebaseerd op sangiovese, die wat hulp krijgt van alicante en malvasia nera. Een trapje hoger staat de krachtige en fluwelige single vineyardwijn ‘Poggio Valente’, een Morellino di Scansano Riserva die het stelt zonder alicante, maar wel 15 maanden op grote vaten rijpt. De wijngaard Poggio Valente ligt wat verderop in Pereta, net ten zuiden van Scansano.
