Il Poggio - de eerste single vineyard in Chianti Classico in 1962 - is een monument in Toscane. Toen nog met 7% witte druiven gemaakt zoals het verplicht was in die tijd maar sinds 1968 gevinifieerd van enkel blauwe inheemse variëteiten: Sangiovese, Canaiolo en Colorino. Il Poggio is het hoogtepunt in traditionele Chianti en kan fantastisch ouderen. Zelfs 1968 is vandaag de dag nog een fantastische wijn met mooi gecapteerde zuren en sappige tannines en zelfs delicaat fruit in de neus. Il Poggio Riserva wordt enkel in de beste millésimes geproduceerd zoals deze 2011.
